Química Básica Colombiana S.A.

The project for establishing a Sulfuric Acid Plant to serve Colombia's southwestern markets began in 1977. The new plant would be located in the town of Caloto, Department of Cauca, due to its proximity to the product's principal consumers, and to the Cauca Indigenous Mining Enterprise S.A., supplier of the most important raw material: sulfur.

The construction phase was launched in January 1980, and operations began in 1982 with an installed capacity of 75 metric tons daily (MTD). In l986 installed capacity was increased to 90 MTD. We are currently undertaking a project to increase installed capacity to 120 TMD.

In 1999 Colombian Basic Chemistry S.A. implemented the system of Quality Performance based on the ISO 9000 regulations, and in 2006 It implemented the system of Environmental Performance ISO 14001.
